It with heavy heart that I have to inform you all of the loss of one of Brackley's born leaders, former Chairman Colin Land who died last week after a long period of ill health.

Sadly Colin only lost his wife Rosina 10 weeks ago after a short illness, now he has left us to join her. Current Brackley Chairman John Pedder said, "I have known Colin and Rosina for many years both as a father and a Brackley rugby enthusiast. Colin's children Adrian & Claire both went to school with my children and he become one of the first to assist Bill Mount (current Club President) with coaching our first BRUFC youth section."

"Colin and Rosina worked hard behind the scenes at Brackley Rugby Club and Colin became chairman during the important transition and move from our old club (where the leisure club is now) in 1999, to our sparkly new club at Nightingale Close in 2000. Colin also became Mayor of Brackley and was well known to always have a smile on his face and a welcoming hand, Colin set the bar very high as we all aspire to become better people and leaders of the committee."

"I am sure you will join me in sending our condolences to all of their family. I understand there will be no formal service as their children wish to have a Direct Funeral, however there will be a celebration of Colin and Rosina's life in the new year, when we will lift a glass or two in their honour." There will be a minute's silence in memory of Colin and Rosina next Saturday before Brackley 1st XV's match against Stamford College Old Boys.
