Brackley draw the curtain on what has been an excellent season with a home game against Thorney on Saturday afternoon.
After challenging for promotion throughout the year, Brackley’s push for a top two spot faltered at the end with back to back losses to Northampton Mens Own and Sileby but it's a credit to how far the team have come this year that only the top three teams have managed to beat them all season. After picking up five points last week with an away walkover win against Stamford College Old Boys, Brackley are on 65 points in fourth spot, which is almost double the points tally they had last year!
Thorney are renowned for their big pack, as they often look to use their set piece and sizeable forward runners. It’s been a tough season for the visitors as they’re currently second from bottom, but a win could move them up a couple of spots in the table. However they are no push overs, which they showed last week when they grounded out a 21-19 win over Bedford Swifts. In the reverse fixture at the start of the season, they showed how difficult they are, with Brackley only just winning 15-12.
With this being the last 1st XV game of the season and Thorney bringing a bus down from Lincolnshire, it’s sure to be an amazing atmosphere at the club, so come cheer the lads on as they look to end their season on a high.
