The new season is finally here and Brackley will need to be on top form straight away as both the 1st XV and Development team face Northampton Mens Own.

It was an excellent season last year for Brackley 1st XV who were in the hunt for promotion all the way until April, eventually finishing in 4th spot. Whilst disappointed not to clinch promotion, there was a positive atmosphere throughout the season within the squad thanks to the excellent performances put in and increased competition for places.

With some new players having joined the club and the Colts making the step up to senior rugby, there has been some fresh impetus put into the squad this summer as the 1st team look to gain promotion this year. The strength of the squad will be on display straight away with two strong teams running out onto the pitch in the first week of the season.

Having been relegated the year before, Mens Own also had a strong season finishing third and narrowly missing out on promotion in the final game of the season against their local rivals and eventual champions Northampton BBOB. Mens Own and Brackley were well matched last year as they put on two outstanding games of rugby with the Northampton side narrowly winning both games by less than one score.

The 1st XV will have the honour of playing the first home game of the season, whilst the Development team are playing away at Northampton with both kick offs at 3pm. With rugby fever about to hit the country, now is the perfect time to dust your boots off for the Development team or come up and cheer the 1st XV on against one of the favourites for the league this season.
