It’s a big weekend of rugby for Brackley as both the 1st XV and Development Team host league leaders Northampton BBOB 1st and 2nd XV’s.

Brackley returned to league action for the first time in a month last week and despite showing some signs of rust in their performance, they were able to comfortably dispatch Kempston 62-12 and stay in fourth spot in the league. The next three games will be the biggest of Brackley’s season as they face the three teams above them with only five points separating second to fourth.

BBOB have been imperious for most of this season, sitting on top of the league 11 points ahead of second placed Sileby. However in 2019 they have shown they are beatable, losing to Sileby in January and then again at home 17-12 to Bedford Swifts last week, meaning they will be looking to bounce back this Saturday. In the last meeting between the two sides, Brackley struggled to get out of the blocks against a strong BBOB team eventually losing 23-0.

The Development Team will also be in action as they take on the BBOB 2nd XV in a return match from November which BBOB won. Like their 1st XV, the BBOB 2nd XV have been extremely strong this season winning the majority of their matches including an impressive 54-5 win against Long Buckby 2nd XV last week. With a season high in terms of numbers available this week, Brackley will be welcoming BBOB with two very strong sides, which is sure to lead to some enthralling rugby on Saturday.

In addition to these two big games on the pitch, the Scotland vs. Wales and England vs. Italy Six Nations matches will be on the big screen and with the visitors coming on a bus it’s sure to be an entertaining day at the club. Kick off for both matches will be at 3pm.
