Brackley see out 2018 in Lewis Shield action as they host local rivals Buckingham under the floodlights on Wednesday night.

With no more league games until the New Year, this is a nice early Christmas cracker for the fans to enjoy as it should be an excellent match between two teams having good seasons so far. Brackley were delighted to return to winning ways on Saturday, when they beat Stamford College Old Boys 39-3, running in six tries. The return to form came at an opportune time as Buckingham who sit a couple leagues higher will be one of the toughest tests this season.

The visitors play their rugby in the South West Divisions and are currently second in Southern Counties North with seven wins so far this season. They themselves have shown good form going into this cup match, dispatching Slough 58-3 at home at the weekend. These two sides haven’t met for a couple of years but with close connections between the two clubs, many of the players will know each other well (some are even family)!

The Lewis Shield is an historic competition between local teams, which both Brackley and Buckingham have won on more than one occasion. Kick off for the match is at 19:30 on the second pitch and this will no doubt be an excellent occasion between two old rivals, plus we will be running a special offer on Greedy Goose and Hooky Gold throughout the night, so come show your support for the final time in 2018!
