After a week off watching the World Cup Final both Brackley 1st XV and Development Team return to action this weekend.
The 1st XV have an away match against old rivals Bedford Swifts. Brackley will be buoyed as their 16-3 win in the rain at home to Aylestone St James a fortnight ago extended their winning run to 4 games. However the side know Swifts away is historically a very tough fixture, with majority of the matches being decided by just one score, including a 13-13 draw last season.
Bedford have had a strong start to the season having won 3 of their first 4 games and currently sit just one point behind Brackley. They suffered that sole defeat in their last game two weeks ago when they went down 20-0 away to Birstall, so will certainly be up for Saturday's match. Swifts are known for their power game, so expect to see a physical encounter.
With a number of new and returning faces, the Development Team have named a strong squad as they host Northampton Outlaws. Things didn't go Brackley's way two weeks ago as they were outmuscled in conditions that favoured the hosts Northampton BBOB 2nd XV, they eventually lost 12-0. The Outlaws are renowned for being an inclusive club with a large catchment area for players. The visitors have had tough run of games losing three on the bounce, so will be looking for a much needed win on Saturday.
With winter now upon us, both games will be kicking off at the earlier time of 14:15. Brackley have been able to name two strong squads with a number of new and returning players which bodes well for the rest of the season.
