It's now just over 2 and a half weeks into the season and the lads have experienced both the highs and lows of this new league they find themselves in. After having a successful 1st game and coming away with a highly convincing win against Bedford Queens to last week where the lads saw what the league could bring to them as they suffered a humbling 86-0 defeat away at the hands of Rushden & Higham where nothing stuck and we couldn't muster much against a well drilled and coordinated side, this being said the spirit shown by the lads to keep going and never stop is a testament to them and has allowed them to keep the mood high going into this week.

Looking at other results within the league it is clear to see that teams traveling come under a disadvantage of some way or another as we have only seen 4 games out of 12 where the away team has come out ahead with the margin generally being lower than the home team winning.

Unfortunately the 2nd XV match was called off before kick off due to an injury sustained to a opposition colts player in the previous game before. The young lad suffered some muscle damage and we wish him a speedy recovery. With the prospect of awaiting an ambulance with a quoted time of up to 4 hours and the heat taking a turn above the 30 degrees mark both captains agreed to cancel the fixture. The seconds do return in just over 2 weeks time against Rushden & Higham 2nd XV on the 30th of September, if you are a former player or prospective player looking to get involved whether 1st team or 2nd then please get in touch with Dickie Clements on dickie.clements@brackleyrufc.com

Attempting to begin righting the wrongs from this last week began on Tuesday where a combined session with the colts saw a fruitful amount of players running around at Nightingale Close. Focusing primarily on key learning points from the weekend the lads worked hard and look to return tonight as they will be enjoying some high protein fuel after training for the first time as we look to give our players the best possible chance of improving and staying healthy as we move into the colder months.

In other news… as you may have seen over facebook in the last few days and weeks, one of our senior players Chris Goodall is riding his bike all the way from Montabaur in Germany (about 50 miles south of Bonn). Don’t worry he's not having an existential crisis, he's doing it for charity! He is now on day 3 of the task and already smashed well over 200 miles they will be back in Brackley on Saturday, just in time for some rugby! If you want to support them and their chosen charities then use the link below to donate.
